No-Till farming or direct drilling is zero tillage, just straight in with the drill. There are many benefits, both financially and environmentally to growing crops using this system - a method to "save your soil"

We are experienced in growing and advising in the growing of cereal and other crops using No-Till Farming techniques. We have been practising No-Till on our own farm since 2008.

See below for the reasons behind using a no-till and cover crop regime.  Please contact Richard Bradley to discuss a CropTrak contracting service quote, and any questions relating to No-till and cover crop machinery;

Soil structure

Good soil structure is essential for maintaining a productive and sustainable farming system.

Poor soil structure leads to poor crop growth and poor drainage. Well structured soils allow water to percolate more quickly and reduce the risk of run-off and erosion. Using a No-Till Farming System soil structure is improved and preserved, leading to higher yields and better returns.

Reduce soil erosion & retain moisture

Conservation farming reduces soil erosion and enables soils to retain more moisture.

No-Till soils are able to retain more oxygen as they are not compacted with heavy cultivation equipment used in conventional systems, this leads to better root formation and better growth of the plant.

Save energy and Money

Minimising tractor passes saves on fuel.

Using extra fuel contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally a No-Till and Cover Crop system reduces capital expenditure and saves on man power.

Increase organic matter

Organic matter accumulates over time which restores the nutrients to the soil.

The population of earthworms also increases helping to improve the soil profile.
